How to Really Listen in 4 Easy Steps

There would be so much more understanding in the world if we all listened a little deeper and make others feel heard. It was truly eye opening for me what I started discovering when I acquired some listening skills back when I was first studying Heartmath. I truly was shocked when I realized how much chatter was going on in my own head full of judgments and how that invisible inner voice actually could be affecting the inevitable distortion of communication.

I fully believe that listening is a skill we can all easily learn if we knew how and had the willingness to practice. I sure know I could use more understanding but then I have to remember that in order for me to receive that which I seek I also have to practice that which I seek and maybe I will have to be the one that needs to set the tone of how to lead a productive and loving conversation.

May we have the humility and grace to be the ones to set the example, courageous enough to not be the one needing to be heard first and compassionate enough to provide that space for mutual understanding.
